I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been reading the Harry Potter books with my boyfriend, and that whenever we finish one, we watch the related movie. We have just finished the Half-Blood Prince and watched the movie and it made me think of how I used to feel about the films and how I feel watching them now!
So here is the then and now of watching HP movies!

HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE
Then — Brilliance! I can’t believe I’m watching this! Man, Oliver Wood is so cute! Also, why isn’t this happening to me?
Now — Damn, child actors can’t act! Also, why isn’t this happening to me?
HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS
Then — My least favourite book – still kind of a great movie! Evil has never looked better: Massive crush on Draco and Voldemort.
Now — Voldemort was hot …no other thoughts.
HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN
Then — Oh things are getting darker! This is the best movie! Wait, they never say who the Marauders are!
Now — Love Alfonso Cuaron’s cinematography! Not the greatest movie, after all..still terrible acting. So angry that they skipped over the Marauders! Wait, is it allowed to find Gary Oldman hot?
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Then — Oh Cedric and Krum are such heartthrobs! Wait, why is Hermione’s dress pink? I’m kind of terrified by the merpeople.
Now — I’m kind of unsure about how they made this book into the movie, we didn’t even see much of the world cup and I wanted to see the Sphinx! They added some funny scenes about the ball and I totally appreciate that. …arg, it’s that guy from twilight…
HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
Then — Kind of bored and annoyed at the angst. Damn Umbridge is played so perfectly!
Now — What is this plot? It’s as though they wanted to cram the biggest book into the smallest movie! Makes no sense…
HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE
Then — Love this movie. McLaggen is kinda hot, loving Lavender’s craziness, the mixed feelings of Draco and the Felix Felicis scenes…perfect! Wait, where was the hot Tom Riddle??
Now — Harry is perfect. Slughorn is perfect. Draco is perfect. Dumbledore is perfect. Why Snape why?? It is also when I realised how cool book Ginny was and terrible movie Ginny is. They don’t even tell us about why Snape is the half-blood prince! Wait, where was the hot Tom Riddle??
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 1
Then — Dobby WHY!!!
Now — I LOVE this new composer, he is amazing and it’s making such a difference with the mood. BUT..damn this movie is long! I just cannot watch it without going straight for the second one. And, I weep every time I witness Dobby’s final moments. It truly is the worst!
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 2
Then — OMG it’s ending…it’s ending …*slowly rock myself in cinema chair
Now — This movie is great! Damn, Ginny is still terrible! Luna is awesome! Go Neville! Snape was the best after all! *weeps silently. Why was Remus and Tonks death passed over like that?? Why George why?? I’m still devastated by the Resurrection stone scene. Oh gosh Voldemort’s death scene is terrible! I’m still not over how terrible that epilogue is…
