There it is another year gone from our calendars. I just wanted to take this time to look back on the last year and share my highlights for every month. 2015 was a big one and I know 2016 will be another big one to follow, but hopefully it will be as amazing and life-changing!
January
January 2015 was a pretty big one for this Canadian/Scottish household. I started my job at the University of Stirling. Yay to receiving a monthly salary! I also hosted the first event for the St Andrews Alumni in Edinburgh and it was very successful! The Brit also bought a house in which we moved into by late January. AND, last but not least, I rebranded and relaunched my blog! Yay!
FEBRUARY
We moved to Stirling late January so February was all about getting settled. We discovered more and more about the city and made this place feel like home. I also visited Glasgow for the very first time and fell in love!
MARCH
I have to say that my highlight of March was definitely visiting London! I was invited to the newly reopened Canada House for a cocktail party and I decided to make it a long 4 day weekend to roam around the capital city. I saw three friends from St Andrews, met the lovely Marcella from WhatAWonderfulWorld, went up the Shard, walked through Kensington garden, had lunch in Notting Hill, visited Maritime Greenwich and its market, stuffed my face at the Borough Market, and best of all spent a day living my childhood dream and visited the Harry Potter studios.
APRIL
April was marked by our road trip to the western isles – we drove through Balloch, the Trossachs, stopped in Inveraray, got lost in the Bute region, spent a night in Oban, crossed and drove the entire way around Mull, we had an amazing seafood lunch in Tobermory, a slight crisis in Fionnphort as we missed the ferry and the most quiet night of them all on Iona after getting a ferry all to ourselves thanks to the good heart of the ferry workers.
MAY
May was plentiful in the adventure department. We got three separate free pairs of train tickets and so we made the most of them by going around Scotland with them. We visited Perth and Dunblane, Blair Atholl and Largs. I also met the lovely Mel from Everything I Wished For at a blogger event in Edinburgh.
JUNE
I spent most of June at my parents home in Montreal, Canada! I went around to see friends and family. I ate all of the foods I missed from home, attended a wedding and a few birthdays, walked around in the gorgeous summer that Montreal offers and celebrated my 26th birthday.
JULY
There were definitely a good few moments in July – from celebrating my birthday again, to having a Canadian reunion in our flat, to visiting the World Heritage Site of New Lanark, going to St Andrews for the Golf Open, and meeting new friends in Glasgow. Marcella and I also hosted an Instagram challenge which was super fun to keep up with!
AUGUST
August was an amazing month! We started with a bang as we celebrated my birthday (again) and our two-year anniversary by heading into the Highlands to see Fort William and ride the Jacobite Steam Train to and from Mallaig. Later, a friend from Montreal visited and we did lots of very Scottish things, from going up the William Wallace Monument, to attending a typical Highland Game to going out to do some horseback riding. I also took part in the GBBO Bake Along hosted by the lovely Amanda of Rhyme & Ribbons.
SEPTEMBER
September was a slow one for me – the Brit attended conferences across the UK – but I worked a lot here in Stirling. I did take a day off to head to St Andrews to celebrate one of my very good friend becoming a Doctor!
OCTOBER
October had two major themes – weddings and Italy! We attended two weddings that took us to two different regions in Scotland and we headed out for a full week in Rome, Italy. I also met up with Jordan from Wayfaring with Wagner.
NOVEMBER
November was my month of writing! I went up to Ullapool to attend a writing retreat, which was amazing! I will write very soon in January on that. And I also succeeded in writing over 50,000 words toward my novel!
DECEMBER
December was a hectic one as I had two big interviews for jobs. I will now start a new role in January 2016 in University Publications and I’m very excited! We also spent a week in England for Christmas and it was lovely. We’re now back in Scotland awaiting the start of the new year 2016!
