On the Bonnie Banks o’ Loch Lomond!

I have so many Scotland post to share it’s crazy! But one step at a time and today’s focus is on Loch Lomond!

To put you in the mood I suggest that you listen to this amazing song (sung by a lovely a cappella group from St Andrews) while scrolling through this post.

While at St Andrews I thought I would travel much more than I did within Scotland, but the bubble really draws you in. While I did an excursion into the Highlands in the winter, an opportunity came about mid-March to head to Loch Lomond. I was part of the Postgraduate Society in St Andrews and we planned a day trip for students who were staying around for spring break. By ‘we’ I mean we hired a company that offers day trip!

The trip brought us on the outskirts of Stirling to the Wallace Monument, before heading to Balloch, from where we took a cruise over Loch Lomond. After a quick lunch in a pub (where we got IDed…) it was already time to start heading back toward St Andrews, but not without stopping at Doune Castle and to take pictures of some Highlands Cows (or Hairy Coo) on the side of the road. It was a lovely day, although it rained quite a lot, and we got to enjoy a day out of St Andrews!
