10 In Goals

My Life in Agile | Sprint 7

Welcome to my review of sprint 7. The last fortnight has been a quieter one. We’ve done a few relaxed social outings, but nothing of note. Mostly, I’ve gotten really excited about moving house so I’ve been spending my time planning our new kitchen and bathroom.

I’ve been thinking about it and I think I will make the next sprint my last. While it’s been fun and actually really motivating to do this, I don’t think this series is bringing much to my blog anymore and it doesn’t appear to be all that engaging. Once we move I want to do a few more home decor, moving home posts, and I want to do more baking (inspired by all these delicious looking GBBO bakes!) and I have a hyggeligt series coming up from January.

Here’s a look back on my goals for Sprint 7:

>> Work on the PhD proposal
I have had such a breakthrough with my PhD proposal and I’m so excited by it. I’m really inspired and for once I can truly see this project taking shape and potentially working on it 3-5 years.

>> Book another holiday
….I still haven’t. I have issues with travel booking commitment it seems. After Christmas, we decided to come back to Scotland and then fly out, which means Prague isn’t really affordable anymore. We’re looking into other options.

>> Read 3 books
I did. I’ve read Maria Sharapova’s biography Unstoppable, The Little Book of Hygge, and I Should Be Writing (which is so true).

>> Keep up blog reading
I’m a few weeks late on most blogs I follow, but keeping up my reading. I’m always so inspired when I read blogs and I want to enjoy it instead of checking it off my list.

>> Start working out again.
I did! I worked out a few times a week, but not as much as I thought I would. Mostly because the first time I worked out (first time since July!) I was sore for 4 days after.

What I learnt from Sprint 7:

Doing things in a rush to check them off a list isn’t enjoyable at all. This whole project is meant to be for fun and for me to achieve some personal goals. What is great is that having goals to check off for the last 3 months has helped me introduce them more naturally into my life, but I’m still struggling with a few. I need to be more in the present and put more time into doing these tasks and enjoying doing them, rather than rushing to make sure I’ve checked them off my Agile list.

What’s coming up next for Sprint 8?

>> Submit my short story to a short story contest
>> Finish my PhD proposal and send it along for feedback
>> Spend less time online but more efficiently, especially on my blog
>> Keep up blog reading, blog writing, working out, etc.
>> I’d say book a holiday, but…

Do you have any goals for the coming weeks? Also I’m wondering what kind of content you would like to see more of on this blog?xx
