A Walk Through the Botanic Gardens

In early January the Brit and I spent a whole day in Edinburgh – strolling around, meeting friends and checking things off of our Scottish bucket list. It was raining, but we decided to still head to the Royal Botanic Gardens. The weather was really awful – with heavy rain and that east coast wind – so we thought that the glasshouses would be our best option and that the outside park could wait until the hopefully drier summer.

Walking around the park is free, but visiting the glasshouses costs £5.50. It’s not a bad deal and there is loads to see as well! We warmed up and dried up in the first palm house – the iconic entrance to the glasshouses (pictured below) and went on our way.

I had a lot of fun taking photos of the plants and I have to say highlights of our tour were probably the desert house with the cacti, seeing carnivorous plants for the first time (pictured below as well) and all the lovely orchids we saw along the way.

Enjoy the following photo diary of our walk through the ‘botanics’ as the Brit calls it.
